Principal’s Message

Principal Todd Lanter brings over 33 years of educational leadership and a passion for student success, driving excellence and innovation throughout our school.  Principal Todd Lanter is dedicated to Making Fort Braden K-8 the best school in Leon County. 

Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,

Welcome to Fort Braden K-8 School. We as a staff are dedicated to making Fort Braden the best environment for student success. As principal, it is my honor to lead a district that prioritizes academic excellence, innovation, and the overall well-being of every student.

At Fort Braden K-8, our dedicated team of educators and staff work collaboratively to create an environment that is conducive to learning. We understand that every student is unique and that students learn in different ways.  We dedicate ourselves to creating an environment that fits the needs of all students. 

We provide many opportunities for our students, from high school level courses to CTE courses, and a multitude of extracurricular activities.

Stakeholder involvement is essential to the success of our schools, and we look forward to working together to create an exceptional educational experience for all students. Mission Statement

The mission of Fort Braden School is for the administration, staff, parents, students, and community to recognize the importance of intellectual, physical, and emotional growth in preparing students for college and career readiness. Through our shared efforts, students are encouraged to develop independence and individual identity while demonstrating collaboration, respect, and responsibility within the greater community. Instruction is purposefully designed so that learning tasks build progressively toward mastery—engaging all learners in meaningful, standards-based work that fosters deep understanding, critical thinking, and real-world application. We are committed to providing a safe, healthy, nurturing, and affirming environment that upholds high expectations, inspires life-long learning, and empowers everyone to reach their fullest potential.

  • We offer a range of programs, including special education, English language development, gifted education, and counseling services to support diverse student needs.

  • Safety is our top priority. We have secure campus entry points, regular emergency drills, and on-site staff trained in emergency response. Our visitor management system ensures that all guests are signed in and monitored.

  • Our K-8 school day typically begins with supervision at 7:45 a.m. and supervision ends at 3:15 p.m.  School hours are 8:25-2:50.   Boys and Girls Clubs offers an after-school program available for families needing extended care.

  • Registration is straightforward and can be done online or in person at the school office. Required documents include proof of residence, birth certificate, and immunization records. Please contact our Registrar, Ms. Emily King. 

  • We welcome family involvement! Parents can volunteer in classrooms, join the PTO, participate in SAC meetings, participate in Title 1 family nights, or attend school events. Your involvement strengthens our school community and supports your child's learning experience.

  • Technology is integrated to enhance learning, with resources such as interactive whiteboards, tablets, and educational software that support students' digital literacy and engagement.
